21. Code of Conduct

The Colorado Strong Challenge was created to celebrate grit, resilience, and the strength of our Colorado community. Every athlete, volunteer, judge, and spectator plays a role in creating an environment that is competitive, supportive, and respectful. All participants are expected to uphold the following standards of conduct throughout the competition.

Respect for All Athletes
All athletes, volunteers, judges, and spectators must treat one another with respect at all times. The Colorado Strong Challenge welcomes competitors from many backgrounds, abilities, and identities. Disrespectful, discriminatory, or harassing behavior toward any participant will not be tolerated.

This includes, but is not limited to, behavior targeting an individual’s race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, body type, or experience level. Every athlete who steps onto the competition floor deserves to compete in an environment that values their effort and commitment.

Sportsmanship
Competitors are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after their events. This includes respecting judges’ decisions, supporting fellow athletes, and maintaining composure throughout the competition.

Unsportsmanlike conduct—including arguing aggressively with judges, interfering with another competitor’s performance, or attempting to manipulate results—may result in penalties or disqualification.

Language and Behavior
While the competition environment may be intense and high-energy, all participants are expected to maintain appropriate language and behavior.

Excessive profanity directed at judges, volunteers, other athletes, or spectators will not be tolerated. Threatening behavior, harassment, intimidation, or aggressive conduct may result in immediate removal from the event and possible disqualification.

Athletes should also refrain from behavior that disrupts the competition or creates an unsafe environment.

Respect for Staff, Judges, and Volunteers
Judges, volunteers, and event staff are essential to the safe and fair operation of the Colorado Strong Challenge. All participants are expected to treat them with courtesy and professionalism.

Judges’ decisions regarding scoring, repetitions, and rule enforcement are final. Disrespectful behavior toward officials may result in penalties or disqualification.

Issue Resolution
If an athlete believes a scoring error or rule issue has occurred, the following process must be followed:

  1. The athlete must notify a designated event official within 10 minutes of the event’s conclusion.
  2. The concern will be reviewed by the head judge or event director.
  3. A final decision will be communicated after review.

Athletes are expected to raise concerns respectfully and through the proper channels. Public confrontations, social media disputes during the event, or aggressive challenges to officials will not be tolerated.

Safety First
Athletes must follow all safety instructions provided by judges and event staff. Equipment must be used as intended, and any unsafe conduct may result in disqualification to protect participants and spectators.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically prepared to compete and must notify staff immediately if an injury occurs.

Consequences for Violations
Failure to follow the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including:

• Verbal warning
• Disqualification from an event
• Removal from the competition venue
• Ban from future Colorado Strong Challenge events

The event director and head judge reserve the right to enforce these rules to ensure a safe and respectful competition environment.

Community Commitment
The Colorado Strong Challenge exists to celebrate strength, determination, and the spirit of our Colorado community. Every participant helps shape the culture of this event. By competing, attending, or volunteering, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to an environment where every athlete has the opportunity to perform at their best.
